my brother is lucky after all. he welcomed 2008 alive.
I can't believe one last "almost-disaster" will catch up on our family a few hours before 2007 bids goodbye.
Imagine, my younger brother who is 12 was chased by a drunk with a bolo in his hand!! Yes, that's right. Just the thought of my brother being hurt brought me to tears while my parents were telling me the whole story.
My brother was just chatting with his friends in front of our house when this drunk guy came running toward his direction. My brother, in his shock, ran away from him instead of running back inside the house. He ran as fast as he can (thank God, he's a campus athlete.) until he reached the next block. Another reason to be thankful is that every single "tambay" (and my sister's boyfriend, 10, 000 pogi points for you) who saw what happened ran after that drunk and threw stones at him.
Thank God my brother got out of that ordeal alive. It turned out that freaking lunatic thought my brother was our neighbor who he bickered with about some money stuff earlier that day.
Eventually, the lunatic snapped out of it and came back to his senses. He apologized to my family specially to my brother. But if I were there, I'll curse that bastard so hard down to his very soul, his soul would rather separate from his body than shrink in shame.
But we're still lucky. Our family welcomed 2008 safe and sound.
